Water Logged – West Beach
An old wooden pier extends into the the sea on a foggy winter morning along the North Shore of Massachusetts.
On a cold winter morning, I drove out to West Beach in Beverly, Massachusetts. As I walked down the beach, the conditions were dark and dreary. The fog was thick and heavy. And little chunks of ice — mini icebergs — floated along the water’s edge. Needless to say, it was a far cry from the glories of summer.
After a brief walk down the beach, I eventually found the remnants of an old pier. I took out my camera, and I fired off a couple of long exposures. This technique transformed the seascape from dark and dreary to calm and serene. And, it revealed the hidden beauty of the North Shore.
