Fire Light – Marshall Point

The wooden walkway of the Marshall Point Lighthouse leads to a dramatic sunset off the coast of Port Clyde, Maine.

I arrived at the Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde, Maine on a stormy September afternoon.  As I walked towards the lighthouse, the conditions — dark clouds and high winds — didn’t look promising.  But, I set up my camera at the end of the lighthouse, just to be safe.

Then, right before sunset, rays of light started to appear on the horizon.  Within a matter of minutes, the whole sky exploded with color.  Oranges and yellows were followed by pinks and purples.  It was, and still is, the most beautiful sunset I’ve ever seen.  And, I got to watch it all from the end of the walkway to the Marshall Point Lighthouse.
