Paradise Found – Bora Bora

On a quiet carefree morning in the South Pacific, a calm lagoon creates a near-perfect reflection of a hammock.

Description

Bora Bora is undeniably beautiful. But, it’s a difficult place to photograph. Few images seem to capture the beauty of the island — from the color of the water to the majesty of Mount Otemanu.

Despite the challenges, I searched high and low for suitable compositions. I walked around our section of the island, often in awe of the natural beauty.  But, in an ironic twist, I repeatedly returned to something man made: a hammock sitting in a quiet lagoon. It was serene. In fact, the lagoon was so calm that you could see fish swimming in the water. As if that wasn’t enough, the rising sun gently illuminated the bottom of the hammock each morning.

In some ways this image doesn’t completely capture the beauty of Bora Bora. But, it’s a symbol of paradise, a reminder of a carefree moment in time.
